This week in DC Rebirth – Deadshot Batman Team Up, Zombies and a Kryptonian Werewolf?

It’s nice to be reading DC Comics again, and with Rebirth in full swing there have been plenty of choice titles to choose from. After watching the Suicide Squad movie my interest is peaked for some sub characters, in particular Deadshot, Katana, Rick Flag, and let’s not forget, Enchantress.

Top Picks: Supergirl Rebirth #1

One thing to say about DC Rebirth: it’s certainly Super. Most of the titles I’ve been really enjoying are the Superman books. I was quite excited to start reading Supergirl, and the CW TV series certainly helps.

This is an interesting book as well – it introduces the Red Kryptonite disease (aka: Kryptonian Werewolves,) Supergirl getting her powers back, and a look at what happened to Argo City.

Top Picks: Batgirl and the Birds of Prey

Birds of Prey is a series I always meant to pick up, especially during Brightest Day. With Rebirth it’s a perfect time to try new books.

What a treat of a book. Here’s a brief rundown: super best friends Batgirl and Black Canary have been teaming up – trying to find out who’s using the name Oracle for some shady business deals. While on their investigation they run into the Huntress – she’s after the same guy, and has a grip ton of info on this Oracle situation. Meanwhile an assassin by the name of Asp shows up, and the duo becomes a trio.

Suicide Squad #1

What a surprise, the book was actually pretty good. While the story is just starting it was nice to get more of a backstory on Deadshot. Essentially the Squad is assembled to take on a rogue Russian state, and there is only one way to get there…. SPACE!!

What made the book great though was seeing a more flushed out Deadshot and Rick Flag. While they didn’t delve into Flag’s backstory they showed that he cares about his troops – even if they are criminals. Deadshot however has a great backstory and a fabled team-up with Batman. With Deadshot’s daughter being held by Cobra, the only way to get her back is to assassinate Bruce Wayne. I really don’t know why they didn’t use this story in the Suicide Squad movie.

Harley Quinn #2

This is my first Harley Quinn book since the Terry Dodson run. What to say about this one… it was fun? Well yes. Here’s the story breakdown: there is a Zombie outbreak due to some infected hot dogs. Harley and her crew need to stay safe, but end up in a Zombie horde. Does someone need a weed wacker? Posion Ivy shows up to mow down the horde.
