At this year’s Midsummer Scream Halloween and Horror Convention this past Saturday the annual Knott’s Scary Farm panel was held. Top theme park designers and Knott’s Scary Farm masters gathered to tease us with some of the new things they’ll be terrorizing fans with this October.
This year’s Knott’s Berry Farm’s annual Halloween event returns September 20 for its 46th season. Producer Ken Park told the crowd of fans this year will feature more shows and live entertainment than ever before, having a large void to fill now that Elvira has retired from Knotts.
Among the new additions this year will be “Awaken the Dead,” a dance party in Fiesta Village, celebrating the Mexican holiday, Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead). A DJ on hand for all your dancing and scary needs.
Also, a new scare zone and maze, “Forsaken Lake,” will be located underneath the Silver Bullet roller coaster. This new area will be inspired by New Orleans jazz funerals processions, but with a “Victorian gothic” feel. So that should be a welcome scare for sure.
The team this year will be updating the Ghost Town scare zone with more fog and frights. The team teased that the Ghost Town will have many interactive moments with things or characters. Who can say right now what this means but dying to find out.
