“Man” may no longer be hot, but this patch certainly is. Find out more about Odyssey’s take on transmogrification, after the jump!
When Ubisoft said Assassin’s Creed Odyssey would have a ton of post-release support, they weren’t kidding. Today’s new patch brought with it a bevy of new features and fixes, and perhaps most important of all, players finally have full control over just how slick their characters look.
The new “Visual Customization System” allows players to change the appearance of any of their weapons and armor to that of another item they’ve acquired. While some games limit when and where you can open your closet, or charge a resource cost to bling yourself out, Odyssey’s new system allows players to do so at any time, totally free. No longer shackled to the appearance of the most powerful items, Kassandra and Alexios can dress up to their heart’s desire.
There are some limits, however, in that you can’t change the type of weapon you’re holding, so no spears transforming into daggers or the like. Clothing customization has been hotly requested since launch, especially with so many great looking legendary item sets both in-game and in the store having rather limited stats, so players are sure to love finally being able to have the most powerful gear without losing out on their fashion score.
Character customization wasn’t the only new feature added in the latest update. “Photo Mode” got an upgrade as well, allowing you to take even better screenshots of your new looks. The “Smart Loot System” should give players gear more closely tied to their preferred playstyle. A huge amount of bugs got swatted, including cloth physics no longer being locked to 30 frames per second. All of this is met with a new quest to complete, and twenty more levels to progress through.
If Ubisoft keeps delivering patches of this quality, Odyssey should have a bright future ahead; be sure to dress accordingly.
