Snowpiercer at San Diego Comic-Con

Snowpiercer took over the giant Indigo Ball Room of the Hilton Bayfront, and fans got to meet the cast and showrunner, and got a first look at both the trailer and an exclusive clip!

In attendance were stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Lena Hall, Steven Ogg and executive producer and showrunner Graeme Manson. (Moderated by Clark Collis.) There were a lot of jokes about trains, as well as complaints from the actors who play back-of-the-train characters (it’s really dirty back there.)

The exclusive clip had some incredible scenes from an avalanche that breaks open the cattle car. Heads up for the faint of heart: the cows don’t make it. Several people don’t make it either but the cows, man, the cows! Daveed Diggs commented that the scene made him feel so bad for the cows he’s decided to go vegetarian. When it was pointed out that he had no problem eating the exclusive Snowpiercer CricketBars, he said “Crickets ain’t cute.” And then figured PETA was probably going to go after him for that on twitter. “#cricketlife.”

The series will take place seven years after the fall of humanity, and according to the showrunner will feature characters from the original graphic novel. A lot of care has been taken to make the train itself feel as real as possible: in addition to some extensive CGI, the walls were taken down between sound stages to fit at least five cars, which can all be moved and rocked, which makes life interesting for the actors.

Snowpiercer will premiere on TBS in 2020.
