Review: The Flash Season Five

Time to return to the CW and see what’s been happening with The Flash, now in its 6thseason, which will air this fall. You can catch up with season 5 before the new season starts. Join Barry, Iris and the rest of his Scooby gang as they fight villains, save the world and join other epic heroes in the three-part Arrowverse crossover event: Crisis on Infinite Earths. All episodes and great special features make this a worthy watch.

Picking up where we last saw them are Team Flash: after defeating The Tinker last season, Barry and Iris, now married, are stunned by the arrival of their grown speedster daughter from the future, Nora. Adjusting to being parents to an adult isn’t the only challenge they face: we see new villain Cicada and a returning one. It’s another exciting season of The Flash, full comic book goodness, fun, humor and heart.

The season overall was just basic. Not one of the better seasons, but it did have its highlights, the three-part crossover being the biggest one. “Crisis on Infinite Earths” was great. Having Barry and Oliver (Green Arrow) body swap was great and full of humor. Having Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) join the show is always a good time. And this time around the villain, Doctor Destiny, makes Superman go bad, leading all the heroes to unite to fight evil Superman. That’s awesome. It also sets the stage for the new crossover coming this year.

Overall the season was fine and somewhere in the middle as far as CW TV shows go. Every show has to have a mediocre season to make the next one all that much better, which I feel season 6 will be. The season finale of this season set up lots of good things to come. The new season starts October 8th. Get ready!

The Flash stars Grant Gustin (Flash), Candice Patton (Iris West), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost), Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon/Vibe), Hartley Sawyer (Ralph Dibney/Elongated Man), Jessica Parker Kennedy (Nora West-Allen), and Chris Klein (Cicada) with Tom Cavanagh (Harrison Well/Reverse Flash) and Jesse L. Martin (Joe West).

Flash Season 5 contains all 22 one-hour episodes and the +2 crossover. Loaded with fun special features: Inside the Crossover: Elseworlds, Villains: Modes of Persuasion an in depth look at DC Villains, gag reel and deleted scenes.
