Auditions are open for the Night Vale Community Players production of Our Town, and Cecil is trying out for the part of The Stage Manager. The director’s going for more of a traditional interpretation (not like her Tartuffe in the nude, or The Iceman Cometh in space). But after growing up inside and adjacent to the theater, we can pretty much say that any live performance of a classic – even a really weird interpretation – counts to us as a “traditional” theater experience.
Except Cecil’s interpretation of Equus. Good God. No, Cecil, Equus is not just a story about “a little boy who likes horsies”, the heck is the matter with you?
The theater-centric episode lets us wander off into tangents like Kurosawa’s Throne of Blood and Lin Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights. Elizabeth’s also seen all of season 2 of Raised By Wolves, and we have to talk for a bit about the endless creativity of Transformers fan artists. (Mermaid variants are optional, crossovers with Gargoyles are fairly common, smut is pretty much mandatory.)
