Sketchparty San Diego at Whistle Stop Bar

My friend Alex invited me to the twice-monthly Sketchparty San Diego a while ago and I’m so glad I finally went! If you’re not one of the many artists who know all about it already, the Whistle Stop Bar covers all their tables with paper (white or brown, though I hear they used black paper on Halloween!) and anyone is welcome to come by and draw. There’s a basket of pens, pencils, and erasers to use, but most people brought their own supplies.

It starts at 8pm on the first and third Tuesday of the month (unless you get a bonus fifth Tuesday!) at Whistle Stop Bar at 2236 Fern Street, San Diego. Get there early to score a table, or show up later since it runs till midnight and the earliest people start to drift away after a few hours.

Here’s a tiny selection of the dozens of drawings I saw on Tuesday, January 31st 2023. (Many people include their instagram tag near their work, shout out in the comments if yours got dropped off so I can tag you.) I just doodled a few foxes; I’m already thinking of what to draw the next time I go.
