Is everyone ready for the Oscars? I know Pixelated Geek is. None of us are in agreement about who the Oscars will go to. Mostly I am just thinking about the food which is why I am writing this post. Mmmmmm, food. As always, my post may contain a few not-lady-like words. Yes, me.
Teriyaki Meatballs
Skill Level: Easy
Ingredients:
Bag of frozen meatballs, turkey balls or veggie balls (You get the idea)
1 jar (about 16oz) Teriyaki sauce
Directions:
Put bag of balls in crockpot
Pour jar of Teriyaki sauce over balls
Turn crockpot on low
Cook for 4-6 hours
*check periodically to make sure the balls aren’t too dry. If you think they are add a 1/4 cup of water.
Serving Instructions:
Serve in a bowl or plate with a cute container of toothpicks nearby. This grab and go food is perfect for socializing.
Stuffed Mushrooms
Skill Level: Easy
Ingredients:
1 lb of button mushrooms
2- 16 oz packages of cream cheese (room tempurature)
1 bunch of scallions (chopped)
1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp garlic salt
4 strips cooked bacon (chopped)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.Clean mushrooms thoroughly. Remove the button from the mushrooms.
Mix cream cheese, chopped scallions, Parmesan cheese, garlic salt and chopped bacon in a bowl. Using a spoon, fill the mushroom with the mixture. Place stuffed mushroom in a casserole dish or a cookie sheet. You want the fit of the mushrooms to be tight in the dish or cookie sheet. Continue until you run out of mushrooms or mixture or both! Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and let them cool enough to not scorch your mouth when you shove the whole stuffed mushroom in there!
If want a fancier version of my stuffed mushroom recipe check out Martha Stewart’s recipe HERE. All hail, Goddess of the Kitchen!
Another favorite recipe that is a favorite of a lot of my friends is Bruschetta. Click HERE for the easiest recipe I have found. A good cook always steals other people’s recipes.
Cooking is hard work! Make sure you invite over enough friends that are willing to do the dishes. Seriously. You also need to make sure you have a proper cocktail while you are selflessly cooking for your friends.
Raspberry Cooler
Fill champagne flute to 3/4 full
Add 1 tsp of Raspbery sorbet (or any flavor you like)
Drink and repeat!
OK, my final recipe is so simple and will sound really weird, but I assure you it is delicious!
You want me to wrap what around a pickle?
Ingredients:
1 jar of baby gerkin pickles (or dill, just not the sweet ones)
1 package deli ham (the kind that the ham is all perfectly rectangle)
1 container (160z) of whipped cream cheese
Directions:
Cut ham into thirds. Smear cream cheese on ham. Wrap ham around a pickle. Put toothpick in finished product!
Repeat about 2 dozen times or until you are too drunk to care.
