Fans of B-movie sequels, found-footage films, and Shark Week (only 342 more days!) will want to check out guest columnist TheNoShitMovieCritic‘s review of Open Water 3: Cage Dive.
Not having seen 2 and 1 doesn’t really matter as these movies are kind of independent of each other, sharing only the basic obvious premise.
It is rather unfair to harshly judge a “found footage” film if you’re not a fan of the genre. This story approaches the concept like a faux documentary, but still comes off as low quality and largely requires the viewer to be patient as the film deliberately stumbles about trying to make a coherent story materialize. The acting likewise.
The end result in all regards is more annoying than entertaining. Minus a few decent “shark moments” this one will probably fail to hold your interest if you’re not a big fan of the genre. 3.5/10
