Should you spend the extra twenty Guild Seals (dollars) on the Fable 3 Collector’s Edition? The Collector’s Edition box has a pristine outer sleeve, which is a variant of the cover art of the standard edition. When you turn it over, a Fable fan will appreciate the picture of a kicked chicken. Pull off this outer sleeve to reveal the case itself, which has the aesthetics of a worn, hard-bound book. This also has a leather strap to hold it closed with golden page edges. The guild seal is embossed on the front, and the good and evil symbols are embossed on the back. All in all, it comes in a nice packaging. Check out the photo and more after the break.
Open the “book,” and there sits the game itself in a black case, reading, “Limited Collector’s Edition.” It appears there is nothing else in the box. At the base of the “book” is a flap that you pull down and find the hidden compartment. Inside is a deck of playing cards that are Fable themed. Also in the compartment is a two-sided patina bronze Guild Seal. It has evil and good markings (one on each side) and has a nice solid weight. As an added bonus, you receive exclusive DLC. Included in this content is a male and female wardrobe, a new region with a deed to a house, and a new potion for your dog, which will change your dog’s breed to boxer.
I find the look and feel of the packaging in Fable 3: Collector’s Edition to be of outstanding quality. Any collector would be proud to have it on his or her shelf. The extra content is a very nice touch and enhances the game experience a little. As a Fable fan, I enjoyed this edition. If you are a diehard fan of the Fable franchise, I would recommend it; if not, it is not a must-have.
Fable 3: The Collector’s Edition retails for $79.99.
