If there’s one thing we like to do at Comic Issues it’s talking about some geeky stuff. This is why every weekday Comic Issues posts a “Geek Question” on our Facebook and Twitter pages. The question ranges from current events to age old questions that have been asked time and time again. We do it because we love talking to our fans and we want to engage them and include them in our topics. That’s why we also include some of the best geek questions on the podcast.
To make sure that no listener is left out we’ll be posting our best Geek Question of the week here for everyone else to participate. Be sure to leave your answers in the comment section below so you can be a part the conversation.
This week’s best Geek Question was:
Geek Question! There’s a fine line between heroes and villains. Usually the line is at killing, but is it ever okay for a hero to kill?
Some of our favorite answers was:
Jeremy H.: yes, if more heroes killed the villains, then the world would be a safer place. all other thinking is foolishness. how many innocent people have to be injured or kill because villains break out of prison and commit more crimes.
Michael C.: Yes. That’s what make them an “anti-hero”. There motives are fundamentally moral but they are willing to do what must be done to achieve them. It’s one of the things that make heroes such as Wolverine, Punisher, Moon Night, Rorschach so interesting.
Sal M.: Killing isn’t as big a deal as Batman and Superman make it out to be. The only reason they don’t kill is because they’re smart/powerful enough to afford to leave people alive. Yes, if you can survive everything they can throw at you and still put them behind bars each time, you can leave them alive. If you’re outclassed by them and can’t handle the threat they pose, you will have to kill them eventually.
More than anything, the tone of the world dictates the answer. In a comic it’s feasible to leave people alive. Reality is different.
The decision to kill or not often defines a hero. What do you think about good guys who kill?
