Star Trek was on the ground this weekend at WonderCon! On Friday, Paramount+ and CBS Studios hosted a Sing-Along for the first time. This included a screening of the “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” musical episode, “Subspace Rhapsody,” followed by a moderated Q&A with songwriters Tom Polce and Kay Hanley, also of Letters to Cleo

WonderCon is back, and the hottest topic among attendees on Friday was “OMG did you hear it’s going to RAIN TOMORROW.” There’s literally a 100% chance of rain called for Saturday and Sunday, so all the cosplayers were outside Friday, taking advantage of the sun while it lasted. I keep forgetting that Resident Free Days are a thing in Balboa Park: every Tuesday a different set of museums has free admission for San Diego residents. This last Tuesday it was the Comic-Con Museum’s turn to be free, and the latest exhibit is “Colleen Doran Illustrates Neil Gaiman.” Obviously, we had to stop by.
This past Saturday Wade and I got to check out Black Com!x Day at the World Beat Center in Balboa Park. As a celebration of Black creators in comics, it featured artists from publishers worldwide, as well as cosplay, food, art, panels, music, and more. I highly recommend you stop by next time they hold
