Once again Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. enthralled audiences at WonderCon. With one S.H.I.E.L.D. team floating though space searching for Fitz and the other under new leadership trying to figure out who’s causing reality distortions on Earth, it seems like a pretty normal day for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Before the panels started, fans were given the answer they have been wondering for months: When does the new season start? May 10th only on ABC, a point the panels really wanted you to remember. As if we could forget!
Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television and moderator of the panel, brought out executive producers Jeff Bell, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen. Joining them were cast members Clark Gregg (Coulson), Elizabeth Henstridge (Simmons), Iain De Caestecker (Fitz), Henry Simmons (Mac), Natalia Cordova-Buckley (Elena/Yo-Yo), and Jeff Ward (Deke).
After some fun commentary and jabs at one another, Marvel then screened the entire sixth season premiere (directed by Clark Gregg). With no spoilers, the episode shows how the team has moved forward following the deaths of Fitz and Coulson in the Season 5 finale. Going by the full crowd at the Anaheim convention center, the new season is starting very strong.
The new episode is full of massive shocks and gasps as we see our favorite agents deal with new threats they never saw coming. And, as fans, neither did we! During the Q&A portion of the panel it was asked by one eager fan “where does this take place in the continuity of Avenger’s Endgame?” Well, Loeb reminded the fan that at the beginning of the episode it stated “One Year Later”. So, looks like once again S.H.E.I.L.D. will not feel like a part of the greater universe unless some new scene is put in at air time vs. the teaser episode the fans got to see.
Nevertheless, the episode is great and full of some great surprises and is going to make for another great season of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Fair warning!! Spoiler clip ahead! Watch if you dare!
