This weekend, December 11-12 in New York City, World Cyber Games (WCG) kicked off its third annual Holiday Heroes tournament, focusing on Halo: Reach. Teams had to meet at 9AM for check-in at the Samsung Experience and, soon after, the gaming had begun. There were about twelve teams, and each faced a double elimination. When a certain team was called, it would play a total of three matches, in which two of them were team death matches, and the other was capture the flag. The players had the opportunity to borrow Astro Gaming headsets, providing the best quality of gaming a player can have. All teams were sure to have their game-faces on, considering they were fighting for some pretty sweet prizes.
1st place: 4,000 dollars
2nd place: 4 Samsung Galaxy Tablets
3rd place: 4 Samsung Monitors (which you can check out in the pictures)
It did take quite a while for each team to get through their matches, but there was plenty to do. Other than just watching the teams face off and rage at their opponents, the event had the TRON: Legacy the video game available to play (the person with the highest score of the day in that game won a Samsung Galaxy Tablet). They also had Madden and Dirt 2 to play on some of the best Samsung televisions. On Saturday, they finished all semi-final matches, and, on Sunday, they finished up the rest of the tournament. It was a fun and competitive event, and all gamers seemed to have a blast.
