[CES] LevelUp offering new furniture for 2011

Video game storage manufacturer LevelUp is expanding its product lineup in 2011 to include a folding ottoman licensed for the Wii, Playstation, and Rock Band, and a Wii Fit-licensed full ottoman.

The new furniture, like the universal ottomans available since 2009, incorporates a compartment for video game controllers, titles, and other paraphernalia. Like other LevelUp furniture, it is constructed of robust material; most of the models on display were cushioned and padded with leather on the outside and felt on the inside.

LevelUp will sell the new products through major retail outlets in the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Australia such as K-Mart, Best Buy, Toys “R” Us, JC Penny, and  Bed Bath and Beyond. The folding ottoman has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $29; the universal ottoman is priced at $79.

Trauben’s Impressions

Without having used LevelUp furniture myself (I do all my gaming in my narrow room) it’s hard to gauge how comfortable their products are, but the company’s been successful for four years, so it’s hard to imagine them not being reasonably so.

Families and gamers who have a lot of gadgets and peripherals to store will probably find them a far tidier alternative than strewn carelessly about, so that’s useful. And if you want to decorate your apartment or house with some reasonably snazzy game-themed furniture, this is at least a bit more respectable!

Huneycutt’s Impressions

It must be good to be the King. Ask LevelUp, inasmuch as they’re the pioneer of a completely necessary, logical and practical accessory line. Their organizers are sturdy, and completely functional, and their storage towers are built with a good amount of sense and logic. Ultimately, its hard for me to review a product that seems so completely sensical and of such necessity. I know at least six households that need these, and my strongest feeling about this product is not one of adoration, or wide-eyed wonder, but that of surprise. I can’t believe these are new. I can’t believe these haven’t been around for years. And I can’t believe half the Wii-buying soccer moms in the world don’t already have these.

So at first I wasn’t terribly excited by this product, but their ottoman line really broke me. All of them are somewhere between vinyl and faux-leather, but at least a solidly built, but they LOOK LIKE FURNITURE. And furniture I would buy. Solid enough for a skinny girl to sit on, and cleverly-compartmentalized, with furry interiors. So, there’s logic, and there’s sexy leather, and there’s soft furry insides. Imma buy one.
