Bethesda has revealed Doom at its press conference and in all its bloody glory. The gameplay presented in the demo points to Doom taking pointers from last year’s Wolfenstein the New Order. With its focus on tight gunplay and fast paced action, this new Doom hopes to recreate what made the original a classic.
In the gameplay trailer, the amount of gore presented in the game is incredible. Running through the environment at full speed while annihilating enemies with powerful weapons and executing gruesome takedowns shows that nothing is missed in this fast paced action-packed demo. Long gone are the cramped and dark hallways of Doom 3 for more open levels that are reminiscent of the FPS legend. Originally Doom was a fast paced shooter that never let up and it looks as though this new installment will be returning to its past and ditching the horror that became Doom 3.
If Wolfenstein is any indication of what this Doom might be, then I am optimistic that this will be a title that will stay true to its roots and shine because of it.
