That’s right, this past weekend Binary System went to ALL the conventions! And by all we mean some. Well, two. But they were really good ones!
Formerly known as The Night Vale Recap, we now present The Binary System Podcast. Twins Kathryn Adams and Elizabeth Wallace bring you recaps of Welcome To Night Vale, and geek out about any shiny thing that distracts them.
This week we’re throwing the format out the window! That’s right, instead of recapping Welcome to Night Vale and then talking about a movie, we’re talking about a movie first! Then the recap! Madness! Total chaos!
Ahem. Anyway. Listen in as we look at the 2016 Blair Witch sequel (which isn’t nearly as bad as you think) and then recap Welcome To Night Vale #116 “eGemony, Part 1: Canadian Club.” Which absolutely does not star Hugh Jackman.
The Binary Podcast team may not see the latest blockbusters on opening night. Or opening week. Or the week after that…
Okay, so maybe it takes us a while to get around to things. But we make up for it with almost an hour of fangirling.
Listen in as we spoil all the things and talk about Wonder Woman and Blade Runner 2049. Sure we discuss Amazon warriors and angsty replicants, but then we wander down tangents like American Horror Story, San Diego versus Los Angeles when it comes to the “Who’s Going To Turn Into A Garbage Dump First?” question, CGI super jumps, eating bugs voluntarily, and existentialism regarding existence after death and pragmatism versus faith. No, really, we do. But we also talk about pretty superheroes having sex, so there’s a balance.
Nothing to see here, just testing the feed :) If you see this though chime in at the comments and we’ll send you a sticker :)
Binary System Podcast is back on schedule this week (meaning we’re a week behind with our recaps. “Running behind” is the new “on schedule,” all the cool kids say it’s so.) Listen in as we discuss crime and finances in Night Vale, and wonder what exactly are the rules for Naked Uno. (Probably the same rules as Naked Anything Else.)
Also tune in next week for a spoileriffic podcast as we talk all about Wonder Woman and Blade Runner 2049!
Binary System Podcast is celebrating 100 episodes! Well, not counting 20 or so recorded before we started calling them Binary System, plus some bonus episodes here and there, the odd fan art collections…you know what, it’s not important, happy one hundredth episode!
The plan was to record a retrospective of our favorite moments of the last one hundred (..or so..) episodes, starting with our favorite Night Vale episodes, our favorite Weather music, and our favorite fangirl “eeeeeee” episodes like Arrival, Sherlock, and Star Wars (plus a few “arrgh!” moments with Walking Dead.) But of course there were tangents into Blade Runner 2049, Wonder Woman, Friday the 13th the Series, American Horror Story, Saga, and Transformers, because of COURSE Transformers.
Thanks for listening in! And if you’ve got a plan for what our next 100 episodes could be about…you’re more organized than we are!
The nights are longer, the air is cooler, there’s pumpkin spice everywhere, so you know what that means? Time to break out our favorite horror movies and scare ourselves silly. (Hey, could you leave the light on in the hallway tonight? Why? Um, no reason…)
Special guest Hannah Wallace joins Binary System as we put flashlights under our faces and discuss our favorite horror movies: it was supposed to be one apiece, but that plan went out the window fast as we touched on (*deep breath*) In the Mouth of Madness, Blair Witch Project, The Ring, Event Horizon, Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Warriors, What Lies Beneath, and The Descent.
We also talked about a few of the gorier films (Saw, Drag Me to Hell, Silent Night Deadly Night) and why the hell we watched them, and then we finished up with moments from Snap Judgement “Spooked,” The Orbiting Human Circus of the Air (well, the one bit that we actually liked, starts right at 17 minutes), two sentence horror stories, Texts From a Jack O’Lantern, The Black Pumpkin, and a cartoon Hannah remembers that had gargoyles in it. No, not that one, a different one.
It’s a massive podcast crossover!! As Elizabeth from the Lost in Sci-Fi podcast and twin sister Kathryn from the Binary System podcast joins for this wonderful discussion of the great horror writer: Anne Rice. The trio got into why they like her, what are their favorite novels and some of the most crazy storylines she has written. It’s a fun-filled crossover event! So download and hear all the voices of Pixelated Geek in one place!
Thirty years ago today, a little TV show called Friday the 13th the Series aired for the first time (…in Canada, it didn’t show up in the US till October 3.) It was scandalously gory and violent for network TV at the time, and ended up being nominated for several Emmys, and we adored it. We’d make lists of all the cursed objects we could remember, wear out our VHS copies (…shut up…) and write fanfiction (shut UP) where Micki and Ryan finally got together.
Listen in as we break down a few of our favorite episodes, racing the clock to get in as much fangirling as possible.
