Marvel releases Civil War II teasers

Coming this June, the new Civil War begins in the Marvel Universe. Once I found out it was a Brian Bendis/David Marquez book I was ready to spend all the money on it (check out the first few issues of Invincible Iron Man if you want to see what I mean.)

Now Marvel’s released two new teaser images from Jim Cheung, letting us know a little more about who’s on whose side. Click the jump for the teaser images and a few words from Marvel about Civil War II.

SDCC 2015 – Disney Infinity 3.0

The video game industry has become one of the most popular and biggest moneymakers of the last few decades. Each passing year many games outdo movies in terms of money, and with new and bigger consoles and platforms being released it’s clear that this is an industry that is here to stay, even going as far as to get their own conventions or just take over certain parts of other ones: like the San Diego Comic-Con. A whole section of the floor is now dedicated to just the video game industry giving fans a chance to see new products, play new game demos and even meet the creators of their favorite games.

Ex Machina – What is alive?

Ex Machina – What is alive?

There are only a handful of films that I grant the title of “mind expanding,” even fewer that stand can stand the test of time. While Ex Machina certainly receives the title, I was more intrigued by the question it proposed. How do you go about testing artificial intelligence? More so, how do you determine what’s alive and what are the boundaries that holds something back from becoming human.

Now the term human doesn’t necessarily dictate the species or genome. So, more or less, what defines us as human? What characteristics would we deem as necessary to becoming such?

One of the joys of science fiction is its ability to challenge us in how we perceive a certain situation, and the whole robot uprising is a very classic genre. But what defines human nature and how do you test this?

TriPod! 5.7.2015 – Avengers: Age of Ultron

Welcome to TriPod! – the weekly video podcast featuring the latest news in geek culture and the last word in real-talk analysis of geek trends.

TriPod!, hosted by long-time Pixelated Geek sass-master and afficianado of all-things-geek James Huneycutt, the ineffable Johnathan Crass – whose Fu-Manchu is as impressive as his categorical knowledge of indie-gaming – and the ceaselessly cranky but inarguably analytically accurate Taylor Tate, is a weekly video podcast featuring the latest news in geek culture and the last word in real-talk analysis of geek trends.

Pixelated Geek Presents TriPod! Season One Episode Seven – 5.7.2015.

This week TriPod! covers Avengers: Age of Ultron.

This is our most important episode to date. We are very, very serious about the content contained within, and we would be very interested in feedback on the points we make.

Well, Why Shouldn’t We Call Black Widow A Slut?

Well, Why Shouldn’t We Call Black Widow A Slut?

So Jeremy Renner is in “internet trouble” because in an interview last month he called Black Widow a slut, and then this week on Conan he defended that statement; Black Widow is definitely a slut.

The internet jumped on him (though, seriously guys, can we keep the death-threats to a minimum? Like zero?) and people are upset and telling him to shut it. I don’t want to attack him (I honestly do like the guy, most of the time, and I admire his resolve to not back down under pressure) but I want to look at what prompts that kind of comment, why people are entitled to their opinions no matter what they are, and why some words are unhelpful.
