Final Smash Bros Direct Goes Out With a Bang

December 15th 2015 marked the very last Nintendo Smash Bros Direct, and although it didn’t give everyone exactly what they wanted, it still managed to take everyone by surprise. The biggest news, of course, was the inclusion of three brand new characters to the Smash Bros family. One character we already knew about, the other two, not so much. This past weekend, the second annual PlayStation Experience invaded Moscone West in Downtown San Francisco. PlayStation fans from all around the world were in attendance to celebrate a community that was brought together by a mutual love of gaming. As is customary for a gathering such as PSX, the celebration began with a keynote speech from PlayStation’s heavy hitters like Shawn Layden, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America and Gio Corsi, head of Third Party Studios and the savior of the PS Vita, to name a few. “Final Fantasy Tactics” Creator Launches Kickstarter For New RPG

Yasumi Matsuno – creator of the classic video games Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre and Vagrant Story – has started a Kickstarter page with the company Playdek to fund a new RPG. Called Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians, the game is described as a “spiritual successor in a storied line of epic tactical RPGs designed by Yasumi Matsuno.”

[E3 2013] Square Enix Releases Battle Trailer for Final Fantasy XV

It’s no secret that the Final Fantasy name hasn’t been well-received in recent years. With polarizing titles such as Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, as well as the critical failure of Final Fantasy XIV‘s initial release, it would be easy to dismiss the franchise at this point. The lack of a stateside release of Final Fantasy Type-0 and rumors regarding the cancelation of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy Versus XIII haven’t really helped matters much either.

However, with the reveal that Versus XIII is now officially Final Fantasy XV, the Final Fantasy fan in me can’t help but get excited. In fact, after the stellar story trailer unveiled at Sony’s E3 Press Conference, the only thing that could possibly make things better would be a better look at the gameplay.

Square Enix has thankfully delivered.

Square Enix Releases Final Fantasy XIII-2, Announces DLC

After a bit of a wait, Square Enix finally released its follow-up to 2010’s Final Fantasy XIII, the appropriately titled Final Fantasy XIII-2. And, with its release, Square Enix has decided to announce plans for downloadable content.

In addition to Coliseum Battles, which pit the player against characters from previous Final Fantasy titles who can be recruited into the player’s party, Square Enix also plans to release downloadable episodes to further enhance the storyline of the game. However, whether the new episodes will rule out any further sequels to FFXIII is unknown at this time.
