Review: Metroid: Samus Returns

Looking back through the Metroid series, there is one game that stands out as the worst Metroid game in the series. No, not Other M, although a strong case could be made against it.

Metroid 2: Return of Samus is an odd duck in the franchise; it maintains the gated progression that Metroid games are known for while failing at the environmental story-telling that has become inherent in the series. The biggest complaint about Metroid 2, however, is that the game was stranded on the GameBoy. With that said, Metroid: Samus Returns by Mercury Steam looks to solve the issues that Metroid 2 had, while expanding on a game that a majority of Metroid fans have never played. June 2015’s Smash Bros Nintendo Direct Does Not Disappoint

Not only that, he also confirmed additional stages and Mii fighter costumes. A whole lot of information was dropped so I’m going to take the time to detail everything you need to know. Top 10 things I want to see at E3 2015

E3 2015 is less than a week away and we’re already being bombarded with a slew of game announcements, some small and some incredibly huge. Last week we got our first look at the highly anticipated Fallout 4, and just recently the release date for Three One Zero’s horrific “first-person experience” in space, Adr1ft, leaked via a trailer that was supposed to be debuted at E3. Interestingly enough, it seems a lot of big announcements have been trickling out prior to E3, which only leaves me to believe that even bigger and better announcements await us next week. That being the case, I’ve decided now would be the best time to voice my crazy expectations for this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Hit the jump to check out my full list of what I want to see this year! Read On

Top 5 Failures of 2010

2010 was a wonderful year in gaming.

Mass Effect 2 kicked the year off with a bang and the year kept bringing in the hits. Red Dead Redemption took the usually dead summer months by storm and the year continued its hot streak all the way through the always heavy holiday season, which brought us the millions selling Call of Duty: Black Ops and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.

Despite the many triumphs of the year we still had some moments more awkward than Justin Bieber and Usher’s friendship. So here are my Top 5 Failures of 2010.

5) Wii hardware

The Wii has lost a lot of steam lately, despite some stellar games such as Donkey Kong Country Returns and Kirby’s Epic Yarn . As Nintendo’s competitors try to compete with their own motion gaming hardware, Nintendo seems to have stalled everything to do with the Wii’s hardware.

Sure, the 3DS is looking very promising but the Wii seems to be backtracking. They are stopping the use of Wii Speak as a communication device, and what happened to the Wii Vitality Sensor? Sure, no one seems excited about it but you think it would at least be available.

New Metroid: Other M Gameplay footage

Nintendo and Team Ninja seems to be making some headway into the popular franchises’ newest installment.  From the looks of the video below, Metroid: Other M is mixing 3rd person platform gameplay with a bit of 1st person shooter action.  When the Wiimote is held sideways, you get the 3rd person gameplay.  When you want to look around or interact with something, you point the Wiimote at your sensor bar and do (or kill) what you must. Which is actually a pretty cool feature.

Metroid: "Other M" Trailer

Recently the interwebs got a hold of a new Trailer for Metroid: “Other M”. Which due to the lack of a suit around our heroine, leads me to believe that the story might be based around Samus and her training. Which is cool.  Check out the video.

Sadly though two problem could ruin this.

1.) Team Ninja is behind this title. Which isn’t a problem, I like the games that they have put out. But, will it be the same style of play experience that we have grown to know and love with our widdle bounty hunter? I’m hopeful.

A point to note, these are the guys that put out both Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, and Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball so the chances of breast physics is astronomical.

2.) Dame Judy Dench has not made a public statement stating if she will or will not be taking on the role of M. We can all remember he hesitation to get back into virtual acting after her role in the failed video game The Importance of Being Earnest 2: World Tour Beat.
