Comic Issues #191 – Out with the old, in with the new

Marvel’s shaking everything up this month, with a brand new Captain America, a brand new Lady Thor, and a brand new…wait, no, we’re not getting a new Wolverine, we’re just losing the old one. But you never know..

The crew is showing the love for Thor #1, All-New Captain America #1, and Death of Wolverine #3. They’re not showing quite so much love for Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier #1 or Black Widow #11, but they discuss those too. Be warned, they’re spoiling EVERYTHING.

Along the way they also talk Oktoberfest, SCA, San Diego Comic Fest, and whether or not dentists should have lightsabers.

Comic Issues #189 — Transforming God of X-Men

As another dawn opens on the weekly celebration that is Comic Book Day the podcast that you both want and deserve!  This week Anthony and Elizabeth hit the rack to bring to you some of the best comics from last week just in time to pick them up with this week’s books.

Among our favorite books was the comic that everyone probably assumed we were already loving, Transformers #33, which made us feel like kids buried in die-cast awesomeness.  Also following up last week’s Bachalo love-fest is the Bachalo-less love for Uncanny X-Men #26’s scary-powerful new mutant and a deep look at Cyclop’s current psyche.  Wrapping up the podcast we send Thor off in God of Thunder #25 and an anthology leading to teasers for next month’s Thor #1 starring Lady Thor, don’t worry we figured out how to say it without being derogatory.

Review: Avengers – Endless Wartime

When it comes to comics, especially Marvel comics, I’ve usually focused on the Transformers line, with occasional forays into X-Men in the 90’s. Most of my knowledge about anything related to the Avengers comes from the recent movies (*waves madly* Hi, Mr. Hiddleston! You’re awesome!), and when I wanted to try to jump into Avengers comics, something by Warren Ellis seemed like the best place to start. I’ve read Ellis’s Transmetropolitan several times through, I’ve heard lots of rave reviews of Iron Man: Extremis, the man is a god of comic book writing, so I thought the recent Avengers:Endless Wartime would be a great introduction.

The final verdict? It was okay.
