Why should you watch The Guild?

Mon, Jul 27, 2009

I stood in line for the first day of autographs from the cast members from The Guild for about a good 20 minutes during the San Diego Comic-Con preview night. I bought a Season 2 DVD (so should you) and got it signed by the cast members. While there, I asked them to tell you guys why you should watch this awesome web series, if you aren’t already watching it. Btw, sorry my wireless mic is kinda horrible. =(

In addition to buying a Season 2 DVD, I also got some free codes to download the complete first ever The Guild Music Video from the Xbox Live booth. I have some extras. If you want one, just send me an email. I promise, it’ll be one of the best videos you’ve ever seen. Probably second to A-HA’s Take On Me.

Portable Xbox on the cards

Sun, Jul 19, 2009

xbox360

The much rumoured and often speculated portable Xbox might just be nearing reality. In a recent article Kikizo quoted Shane Kim, a Microsoft VP, as saying that an Xbox handheld is not just possible but highly likely:

“For us, it’s a matter of focusing on ‘when’, because if we chased after a mobile or handheld opportunity, we would not have the resources and ability to do things like… Project Natal. But we’re building a service in Live that… will extend to other platforms. No question about it. We understand that customers don’t want an island experience, they want to be connected to the rest of their lives.”

What Does It Take To Become A Gamer?

Thu, Jul 16, 2009

PS300002_01

The gaming world can be a daunting one to jump into, especially when one considers just how long many gamers have been gaming. Speaking to a friend of mine, a geek in her own right and a major bibliophile, she expressed her interest in gaming in an odd way. While she is not a gamer herself, she would spend hours watching her brothers play games, interested in what was going on in the game itself and in the story. Immediately, I figured that if she was spending so much time watching people play, there was a major reason why she herself didn’t jump into gaming: she sucked at video games.

More gaming after the break.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Coming to XBox Live and PSN

The countdown is over! Here’s the trailer!

http://static.capcom.com/mvc2/flv/mvc2_teaser.flv

I’m so glad this is being remixed into Xbox360 and PS3.  Even though people wanted and expected Marvel VS Capcom 3, we can’t say that we aren’t happy with the nostalgic MvC2.  The trailer says that the game will be online for download this Summer and an exact date is not announed yet.  I’m guessing around E3 time since it’s a little over 1 month away. But for now, Capcom, I will now accept that ride you are offering.

Mon, Apr 6, 2009

rvblogo

For those of you who follow online trends, maybe you’ve heard of Red vs. Blue? Yes? No?

Well for those of you that have, the folks from the Rooster Teeth Production staff that produces the Halo-inspired online series are hosting a Halo 3 community playdate, using the new Mythic Map Pack this coming Friday, April 10th. Yours truly, the big RvB nerd that I am, will be getting in on that action under the gamertag Fullmetal XZ. The details can be found on the Xbox website, here:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/calendar/playdate/2009/0410-redvsblue.htm

Note: The new map pack will be required for the event.

Currently, the Mythic Map Pack is only available to those who managed to snag a copy of the Halo Wars: Collectors Edition, but fear not. Bungie has stated the map pack’s release will be April 9th, just in time for the community playdate. More details about the Xbox Live Marketplace release of it can be found here:

And, for those of you wondering what Red vs. Blue is, here’s the first episode for your enjoyment.
